The season has officially begun! We've already run a number of lessons this season but today saw 12 Bonnie Scottish Lasses taking to the water undeterred with the potential cold and more than happy to battle both the elements and their hangovers...We scored with both the waves and weather with small surf perfect for learning and even some blue sky and sun, although when head to foot in decent quality neoprene you'd be surprised how warm you can be.

Learning to Surf in Scarborough is becoming a popular pastime and we are taking more early season bookings from both Hen and Stag parties as well as school groups and families all keen to try a new and exciting outdoor activity. Whilst once predominantly a surf school we now offer both Stand Up Paddle board hire and lessons as well as Coasteering sessions offering something for everyone whilst making sure once your booked in there's always an exhilarating outdoor pursuit awaiting you whatever the weather.

For todays session the girls geared up after a quick brief, and paired up with the boards before heading down to the practically empty beach, something you won't find down south on a bright sunny day with perfect surf for learning! After going through the basics on the beach and a short safety brief we hit the water and the girls proved a little determination and balance go a long way with almost everyone in the group getting stood up.

With it's large sweeping picturesque beach and clean water Cayton Bay really is the perfect location to learn to surf, with no sea defences it is also the safest beach locally and surfable right through all tides meaning you can always just turn up and surf...as longs as there's waves. And if it is flat you can hire one of our Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP'S) below.

For the more adventurous we offer our Coasteering sessions which can be tailored to your needs and range from pure and simple good fun exploring to full on adrenalin junkie sections and some big jumps all from a stunning local location just a short ride from our Base at K10 BAY Surf Shop.

Our headquarters on the cliff above offers ample parking, full changing facilities and free hot showers for after your session and were always on hand to give good sound advice from a fully kitted out surf shop run exclusively by surfers for surfers! God forbid we're closed (very rare) you will find the same quality surfing equipment on our cutting edge website secretspot.co.uk or in our town shop Secret Spot in Scarborough still going strong after 25 years in the business...
